Seasonal Affective Disorder
Also known as SAD is a real thing. I have been diagnoses with it a few times. I live in New England, USA> And during the dead of winter when we have more night then day and the day when it is here is cold and gray it can get really hard to function. It is 100% a type of depression. You feel listless, sad, tired and down every day. You want to literally caccoon and sleep all the time. You crave carbs and comfort foods and anything to make you feel alive and concentration is out the window. The best it for this is vitamin D, exercise and eating healthy.
You need to go outside 1/2 hour every day- I mean it I know it is cold but the fresh air helps and you will get some SUN!!!
The sun is a source of healing. WE NEED IT TO SURVIVE! You are shutting down because you are not getting enough sun. Vitamin D is in the sun and YES take the supplements, I like the drops in my water but you find what works for you. Vitamin D Concurrently, it also assists in fine tuning blood circulation, regulating blood sugar, ensuring healthy cholesterol levels, and fostering overall vitality. If you go outside, you will get fresh air, you will ground your energy and the sun is healing! I hate the cold. I hate it. I hate it. I HATE IT. But, I have to admit when I forced myself to go outside every day I started to feel better. Of couse I dressed warm and was safe and careful because- ICE can kill yo. But this time was a way for me to commune with nature. To seek the sun. To prove it was there and I was healthy and human and alive. My guides were so clear. Drink water first thing in the moring. Go outside 1/2 hour every day. Seek the sun. So I did…. and it helped.
Get some exercise!!
I don’t care how you do it. At home, at the gym, outside, skiing, snow shoeing, walking the dog, (PS:sex is exercise too but that is a different convo) … just get moving! For me, it was planet fitness. I figured out WHEN I had the time to go to the gym. I joined PF because it was cheap. I did not want to go. I just drove there. Sometimes I wouldn’t even go in. But I was making a habbit out of it. Soon I started going in to just use the massage chair. Then I started walking on the treadmill while I scrolled my phone. Then I was soon actually working out. I started to… I know, it is crazy…enjoy it. I to this day do not go crazy at the gym. I life weights 1/2 hour or walk in the tradmill on an incline but it is good. I am moving and doing new things and challenging myself. It feels good. And, it helps with my mood. I also started tanning I know some people hate it but for me with SAD 3 minutes once a week helped. You do have to do your best to eat healthy. I avoid putting sugar in my coffee. and use my treats sparingly. B Vitamins are a class of water soluble vitamins that help promote metabolic function. Many nutritionists and health professionals acknowledge the importance of insulin management in weight loss and overall health. Sugar is a killer to our health. When your weight changes, it can change how much collagen your body produces, which can then lead to skin sagging and wrinkles. Protein and carbs provide four calories of energy per gram, whereas fat provides nine. Full Body 30 min work out at PF really helped me get moving. And walking on the treadmill. I got an app that counts your steps per day. Using this stride length, there are roughly 2112 steps in the average person’s mile. Make it a habit to start your mornings with a walk. Avoid carbs. Protein is the builder nutrient working to actively maintain, repair, and create just about every single cell in your body. These are our biggest liver loaders and while our liver is busy detoxifying caffeine and alcohol, it won’t have the time of energy to detoxify other substances. That is why I started adding a celery juice in the morning if I could. It takes time and is annoying to clean up but it is so helpful to our liver. Add flax seeds for weight loss to your diet too if you can, and chia seeds they give you energy!
Oh, and those light things they sell? Tried ’em. They work ok. But that is why I started tanning 3 min a week to help with that. I have pale skin so I don’t want to burn but I need the light for sure. My dr. even suggested just starring at the light as you brush your teeth first thing in the morning- that did not sit well for me, but going outside and finding the REAL SUN did help!
