HAPPY BELTANE! MAY 1! Today is one of my favorite days! This day marks the Gaelic May Day festival, aka midway between the spring equinox and summer solstice. Today make a natural alter outside and connect to the fairy energy EVERYWHERE! Beltane roughly translates from Gaelic to “bright fire”. It is often commemorated by dancing and the lighting of bonfires. I don’t every really get a chance to work with FIRE energy but there are other ways to connect! I use crystals that connect to Root, Sacral and Especially the solar plexus chakra like Sunstone, Carnelian, Garnet. Tigers Eye add a little Rose Quartz in for Fertility and Love and some Green Aventurine to celebrate the lacy green buds of springtime! Scents/essential oils: Hawthorn, rose, and elderflower scents traditionally connect to Beltane Sounds: Bells, drums, or spring birdsong recordings while you work. Taste: Enjoy honey, dairy, or foraged spring greens to connect with traditional Beltane foods Touch: Use natural fibers like cotton, wool, or linen
The transition from our April new moon decluttering into May’s Beltane celebrations creates a beautiful opportunity to extend and deepen your renewal practices. 🪅! 🍃✨️🌸💛💙
Spring Cleaning
I would say I have gotten very slack in my decluttering mission but Spring Cleaning is a great way to let go of what no longer serves and call in NEW energy! We can Weave Beltane Energy Into a Spring Decluttering Journey!!

Connecting Decluttering to Beltaine Traditions
Beltane celebrates fertility, abundance, and the flourishing of life—themes that perfectly complement our decluttering journey:
Fire Rituals
- After completing a decluttering session, light a candle and connect to its flame. Ask yes or no questions and see what the flame has to say…
- write down things in your life you want to release & safely burn the small slips of paper where you’ve written what you’re releasing- plant the ashes in your garden and see how they transform into beauty!
- Relax with some soothing binaural music beats to help you relax and feel good
- At the dinner table light candles and have a romantic evening- even just you!
- Consider a small outdoor fire pit gathering with friends where each person shares one thing they’re releasing and one thing they’re welcoming
Nature Connections
- Bring freshly cut flowers or flowering branches into your decluttered spaces
- Create a nature altar in a cleared area with spring elements: flowers, green leaves, seeds
- Use natural cleaning products with spring scents like lavender, mint, or lemon
Threshold Magic
- Hang a small wreath of spring flowers on your door to mark the transition
- Place potted herbs on windowsills as symbols of new growth
- Create a “threshold ritual” where you verbally acknowledge crossing from old energy to new each time you enter a decluttered room
Practical Beltaine-Inspired Decluttering Approaches
The May Basket Tradition
Transform the traditional May basket into a decluttering tool:
- Use a beautiful basket for collecting items to release
- Fill another basket with items that represent what you’re welcoming (could be symbolic objects rather than new possessions)
- Create small “blessing baskets” filled with herbs, flowers, and a note of intention for freshly cleared spaces
Dance Your Space Clear
Movement is central to Beltane celebrations:
- Play uplifting music while decluttering
- Take dance breaks to shift energy when feeling stuck
- Move furniture slightly during deep cleaning to symbolize breaking stagnant patterns
Community Exchange
Honor the traditional community aspect of Beltane:
- Organize a spring exchange party where friends bring items they’re releasing
- Create a “free store” with your high-quality discards for neighbors
- Offer your decluttering wisdom as a gift to someone who’s struggling with their spaces
Sensory Elements for Your Beltaine-Inspired Clearing
Engage all senses in your process:
- Scent: Hawthorn, rose, and elderflower scents traditionally connect to Beltaine
- Sound: Bells, drums, or spring birdsong recordings while you work
- Taste: Enjoy honey, dairy, or foraged spring greens to connect with traditional Beltaine foods
- Touch: Use natural fibers like cotton, wool, or linen when reorganizing spaces
By weaving these Beltane elements into your decluttering practice, you transform it from a practical task into a sacred act of renewal—honoring ancient wisdom while creating space for new abundance to flourish in your life.
